gallivant, verb

Go around from one place to another in the pursuit of pleasure or entertainment (implies slight ostentation).
She ran out of cash whilst gallivanting around the globe and had to be an au pair in Denmark for a stretch.

fair to middling, phrase

About average; adequate; acceptable
Hank: How are you feeling after the knee surgery? Joe: Oh, fair to middling. I can walk to work now again, but can't quite run. I never run anyway.

Bob's your uncle, phrase

A way of exclaiming "and there you have it."
If in need of a calming beverage, boil hot water, add a slice of lemon, and Bob's your uncle.

pocketbook, noun

A place where currency, especially coins, are kept on one's person, usually during difficult economic times. Similar to a wallet or purse, but much more difficult to open.
The price of gas these days is sure hard on my pocketbook.

drive-in, noun

A live-action movie theater located outside where participants would park their vehicles in a field and watch a movie projected on a big screen from the comfort of their vehicles' upholstery.
My old-man let me borrow his new 43' Chevrolet Truck, so let's head to the drive-in and suck face.

Often used kindly to express the beauty of a woman, just like we would nowadays with a man, without directly implying she's beautiful.
I've always found Hillary to be a handsome woman.

supper, noun

/sup-per/

A full meal which occurs in place of dinner. Individuals who fancy the use of this word instead of "dinner" will then refer to lunch, the mid-day meal, as "dinner."
I had a big dinner earlier today, but I'm thinking about eating supper at the market later.
